Counsellors
Aaron McBride

Aaron is from Peterborough, Ontario and studies math at University of Ottawa. He has been a soccer referee and convenor for many years and last year was a camp counsellor for his city. He was on student counsel as a spirit leader and completed a co-op assisting a teacher in a grade six classroom. He plays both trumpet and guitar, and loves sports and the outdoors. Aaron is a conscientious and positive thinker. He looks forward to bringing his energy and enthusiasm to his first year at Arowhon this summer!

 
Adam Jones

Adam is from Doncaster, UK and this will be his first year at Camp Arowhon. Adam is currently pursuing a teaching degree in mathematics at Sheffield Hallam University, and hopes one day to become a math teacher in Canada. Outside of school Adam works part-time at Pizza Hut coordinating kids parties with games and make-your-own-pizza nights. He also volunteered for the RSPB in Scotland, maintaining trails and habitats. Through school he always played many sports, with his proudest moments playing Rugby Union for Yorkshire county, and football for Sheffield United youth team. He received the Head of Year 10 award at school for best effort across the year. Adam is looking forward to his first camp experience.

 
Adam Whybro

Adam is from Preston in the United Kingdom, and is currently at the University of Leeds studying History and Asia-Pacific Studies. After university he plans on becoming a secondary school teacher. He has volunteered at a local secondary school, mentoring children with their reading and has been a volunteer teaching assistant at different schools. Adam has coached a local soccer team and in the past was a youth leader at a youth club. Adam recently returned from touring Japan where he visited Nagasaki, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Tokyo. This will be Adam's first summer at camp and we are excited to see him bring all of his experience and expertise to camp.

 
Adrienne Kotler

Adrienne lives in Toronto. This is Adrienne's tenth year at Arowhon, and her first year on staff. During the year, Adrienne has been the captain of her high school swim team, as well as a member of the rugby team and her school's buddy program. She has also been volunteering weekly at a local Out of the Cold homeless shelter for the past three years.

 
Alex Melvin

This will be Alex's second year on staff and ninth summer at Arowhon. Alex was a counsellor in the Inter Boys section last summer and we are excited to see him use his leadership skills to help grow his campers this summer.

 
Alex Wile

Alex is from Buffalo, New York. This will be Alex's eighth summer at camp and first year on staff. Outside of camp Alex is an active member of DECA and enjoys Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track. She did well as an LIT last summer in the Junior sections and we are delighted to have her back at camp this summer.

 
Ali Cohen

Ali is from Aspen, Colorado. This will be her first summer on staff after she successfully completed our LIT program last summer. Outside of camp, Ali is on her school's dance team and teaches others in extra dance classes after school. Ali is an excellent problem solver and is a very enthusiastic and optimistic person. We are thrilled to welcome Ali to staff this summer and to witness her in action.

 
Amy Forrest

Amy is from Aurora and attends McMaster University, where she majors in Biotechnology. After working various summer jobs in Toronto, Amy is pleased to come to Camp Arowhon as a counsellor. A seasoned camper, Amy attended camp in Muskoka and Algonquin Park throughout her childhood and teenage years. Throughout the school year, Amy snowboards, plays intramural volleyball and is a member of the outdoors club. Outside of school, Amy has volunteered at the Southlake Residential Care Village in Newmarket, and participated in the York Children's Water Festival, teaching children about environmental issues regarding water conservation.

 
Amy Grief

Amy Grief is a student at Wilfrid Laurier University in Communication Studies, with a minor in Psychology. She is very active on campus, as an executive on Hillel, a member of the Laurier Marketing Association, and works for the school at their theatre. Recently, she co-chaired a large event for OneMatch and Canadian Blood Services to add donors to the Canadian bone marrow registry. She also dances on campus, and takes vocal with an esteemed faculty member. A drama graduate of the Arts York program, Amy has performed in, produced, and helped stage manage various community theatre productions throughout York Region. Amy has attended camp for many years, but this will be her first at Arowhon, and couldn't be more excited!

 
Andrea Shapero

After nine summers at Arowhon, Annie took last summer off to take courses in Australia. It was a great experience but she missed camp tremendously. She plans on attending university in the fall, where she hopes to play on the varsity girls hockey team. At Forest Hill Collegiate this past year, Annie was the president of the athletic council and the captain of the girls hockey team. This coming summer she is looking forward to reconnecting with all her old friends as well as being a great staff member who impacts campers for the rest of their lives. It will be her tenth summer at camp!

 
Andrew Kupfer

Andrew participated in the LIT program in the summer of 2009 and was a camper at Camp Arowhon for six summers before that. Outside of camp, Andrew volunteers to babysit at his synagogue, and also is a referee for North Toronto House league Hockey. Andrew plays competitive hockey and house league soccer at North Toronto. He was on his Junior Football team at Lawrence Park. Andrew hopes to go into business/economics at a Canadian university. Andrew also plays the guitar and the trumpet. He travelled to Finland and Sweden with his hockey team to play against European teams. This will be Andrew's first summer on staff and we are excited to see him take a leadership at Arowhon.

 
Angie Allen

Angie Allen was at Arowhon for two years as a camper and spent one year in the LIT program. During the winter Angie works as a ski instructor. She works at the Heights of Horseshoe where she was awarded ski instructor of the year. She is a member of many different sports teams at her school, including flag football and Nordic skiing. Angie is also her schools Event's Coordinator, organizing various dances and charity events.

 
Anna Bailey

Anna is in the Concurrent Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of English program at Queen's University. She is returning for her third year at Camp Arowhon; she was a camper for two summers, but was recently involved in Outward Bound sea kayaking, white-water canoeing, and hiking expeditions. Anna volunteered for two years in her high school's elementary buddy program, and now spends time at H'art School of Smiles, a special needs literacy and art school. In high school, Anna was part of the swimming and cross country teams, and continues she continues to run in university. Anna graduated from high school with the European Council of International Schools award for International Understanding, awards for excellence in French and Choir, membership of the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematical Society, and an entrance scholarship to Queen's for academic performance. Anna has lived in Poland, Romania, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and the US, and plans to teach abroad at an international school once she has obtained her degree.

 
Ariel Lewis

Ariel is from Toronto and he is a student at University of British Columbia. He enjoys being active, and plays rugby and hockey. He was a camper at Arowhon for three summers, has spent a summer participating in the LIT Program, and last summer was a fantastic counsellor in Senior Boys. We are excited to have Ariel on staff again this summer, and know that his caring and mature personality will make him a wonderful staff member.

 
Cade Yanowski

Cade is from Chicago and this summer will be her ninth summer at Arowhon and her second year on staff. Last year she excelled as a counsellor in Junior Boys and Girls. Outside of camp, Cade is a strong member of her high school track and cross-country team. This year she was awarded MVP during cross-country season. A long with her many extra curricular activities Cade is also an outgoing creative and hard working person who loves to laugh.

 
Caileigh Quinn

Caileigh is from Toronto and currently attends Ryerson University. This is her first summer at camp, but she has been working at various day camps since she was thirteen. For example, Caileigh has worked as supervisor at a day camp as well as with special needs campers. As a supervisor, her responsibilities included planning and facilitating full camp activities. Caileigh loves working with children and we are excited to see her bring previous camp experience to Arowhon this summer!

 
Cameron Bond

Cam attends Wilfrid Laurier University for communications studies. He's worked as a tour guide, crepe chef, dodgeball ref and cookie dough maker, and has done volunteer work at a day care. Cam has been on school teams for football, lacrosse, water polo, snowboarding, curling, track and field. Cameron also did a lot of leadership training and work in high school, like being a TA at Camp White Pine leadership camp. He won the Senior Athletics award, and Senior Leadership award from his high school and now serves on the WLU residence house council as a community representative. Career wise, he hopes to go into marketing and advertising. This will be Cam's first summer at Arowhon and we are excited to welcome him to the team.

 
David Blatt

David Blatt is from Toronto, and will be joining us this summer for his second year on staff. He was a camper at Arowhon for seven summers and successfully completed our L.I.T. program and was a junior counsellor in the Inter Boys section last summer. Outside camp, David has volunteered for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, UJA and he plays for his school hockey, rugby and football teams.

 
David Cran

David is from Edinburgh where he attends the University of Edinburgh in pursuit of a degree in Physical Education. This will be his first summer at camp, but he has tons of experience with children and leadership. For example, he was the captain of his school's football team where he was responsibility for coaching and supporting his teammates. David is incredibly excited about camp and is especially looking forward to meeting all his new campers.

 
David Linder

David resides in Scottsdale, Arizona and is a junior at Phoenix Country Day School. This will be his second summer on staff and tenth at camp. In the city David tutors sixth graders and runs cross country in the fall and plays lacrosse in the spring. David has also been a participant in the Relay for Life program to raise money for cancer research. In the future David plans on majoring in biotechnology or neurology.

 
David Yachnin

Summer 2010 marks David's thirteenth at Arowhon. In his spare time, David plays a lot of guitar, which includes jamming with his band as well as recording music with his friends. This will be David's third year on staff and we look forward to having his kind, caring, and knowledgeable personality back at camp again this summer.

 
Dinah Finkelstein

This summer will be Dinah's first year on staff. She was a camper at Arowhon for six years and last year completed the LIT program. Outside of camp, Dinah has been a committed dancer for eleven years, and at school she helps run the dance show for charity. Dinah has also participated in raising money and awareness for violence against woman and free the children, as well as helping out at community funfairs. Dinah has also tutored elementary school students.

 
Dustin Ashley

Dustin is returning for his tenth summer at Camp Arowhon. This will be Dustin's first year on staff this summer after eight years as a camper and one year as an LIT. From Toronto, Dustin is currently helping to organize and run a fundraiser for anti-retrovirus treatment for HIV/AIDS through the organization Dignitas International. Outside of camp, Dustin enjoys basketball, hockey and skiing. Dustin went to Tanzania in March, where he helpied street children at Amani children's home in Moshi.

 
Emma Burston

Emma Burston lives in Windsor, Ontario and ttends St.Clair College studying in the Developmental Service Worker program. This will be her first year attending Camp Arowhon and she is ecstatic. Emma has thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer work at the Windsor Essex Therapeutic Riding Association for the past 6 years. It is a riding facility offering therapeutically beneficial recreation to the disabled community and the cause for her motivation to pursue work in this field. She is the recipient of awards such as a recognition for over 500 volunteer hours upon graduation, an award from the mayor of Windsor regarding 'outstanding volunteering' specifically for the Windsor Essex Therapeutic Riding Association, as well as the Governor General's Award. Some of her hobbies include horseback riding, soccer, singing and music, as well as the outdoors and camping. Extracurriculars include involvement in student council where she was involved in community events, student involvement, and school spirit as well as school musicals, choir, and peer mentoring.

 
Erica Croitoru

Erica is from Toronto and this will be her eleventh summer at Arowhon. In her spare time, Erica volunteers in her community and has travelled to Ecuador on a community service trip, she also has participated in the March of the Living and was a Prefect in her final year at BSS.

 
Eve Hurowitz

This will be Eve's second year on staff at Camp Arowhon. Eve was an Arowhon camper for eight years and also successfully completed the LIT program. Outside camp Eve plays tennis and is the head of the environment committee at her school. She has also played on her school varsity rugby team. Eve has done volunteer work with the UJA, Out of the Cold, and Beit Habonim Synagogue. Additionally, she volunteers with Ve'Ahavta, preparing and delivering food to Toronto's homeless. She often visits Baycrest with her school, preparing and presenting holiday performances to the elders. Next year, she plans on attending either Queen's University or McGill.

 
Ezra Cohen

Ezra is from Toronto and successfully completed our LIT program last year. Though this will be his first year on staff, Ezra is an Arowhon lifer, having spent many years as a camper. Outside of camp, Ezra is the assistant captain of his school hockey team and is the captain of the rugby team. Ezra is looking forward to making sure all his campers feel included and we know he will be a positive role model to all those around him.

 
Federico Davicino

Federico Davicino is a student of science in University of Barcelona in Spain. He has been studying for a year in British Columbia and has liked Canada so much that he has decided to stay for the summer. In Barcelona he worked for the past four years in summer camps and has been involved in different volunteer organizations with kids. He also taught English as a second language to kids and acted in a drama group for several years. He loves the outdoors, hiking and traveling.

 
George Whyte

George is from England and attends Newcastle College studying sport, fitness and exercise. This summer will be his first at Camp Arowhon. George plays a high standard of Rugby Union playing for his club's first team and provincial team. He also plays soccer, volleyball, cricket and golf and is a qualified lifeguard. He is very caring and has a great sense of humour.

 
Hayley Best

Hayley is from Northern Ireland in the U.K. and grew up in a seaside town called Bangor, is at university in Edinburgh studying to be a primary teacher. She has been a leader at several summer camps and has worked in both a regular school and a school for children with special needs. She has volunteered with a drama club called KIC in which she worked closely with children of varied ages who had mental and/or physical disabilities. Additionally she volunteered with an organization called Positive Futures as a helper/assistant. They provided the service of respite for families who have a child with special needs, and take children on day trips and to weekly art/drama/sport classes. We are incredibly excited to welcome Hayley to Camp and North America this summer!

 
Henry Roseman

Henry or "The Don", is from North Carolina where he attended the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. This will be his third year on the Camp Arowhon staff. Henry's hobbies include photography, biking and writing. The Don helps with the camp garden, which he loves because he gets a chance to know the kids that aren't in his cabin and he gets to spend all his time outside. His goals in life are to hike the Appalachian Trail, serve in the Peace Corps, and learn to ride a unicycle. We are looking forward to having the Don's creative, funny, and enthusiastic personality back at camp this summer.

 
Jake Minden

Jake or better known as JPA, is from Pittsburgh and this will be his eleventh year at Arowhon and his second year on staff During the year Jake volunteers with kids with special needs and works at his temple's religious school. Jake also swam for his high school swim team and plays frisbee in the spring. Next year Jake will be attending Queen's University. Jake was a fantastic counsellor in Junior Boys last summer and we are excited to see him bring his passion and energy back to camp this summer.

 
Jamie Yanowski

This will be Jamie's ninth summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program last year. At school Jamie is a strong leader of his school's ski team as well as a member of the boy's athletic association. He has also participated in volunteering for Canadian Hadassah-WIZO.

 
Jeremy Lewis

Jeremy is looking forward to his seventh summer at camp and his first year as a counsellor, after thoroughly enjoying the LIT program last year. He has done volunteer work at homeless shelters as well as participating actively in a number of school programs. Jeremy is part of his school ski team and loves kayaking in the summer months. He is very actively involved in martial arts programs, specifically jujitsu and kung fu. Jeremy plans to attend the University of British Columbia and enjoy all of the outdoor activities the surrounding mountains have to offer.

 
Jeremy Schipper

Jeremy is from Toronto and recently graduated from Upper Canada College. This summer will be his second summer as a staff member at Arowhon. Jeremy was a camper at Arowhon for seven years and completed our LIT program. Outside of camp, Jeremy was part of the Healthy Relationships Committee at UCC, head of the photography club and editor of the school humour paper. He has also worked at Zodiac Day Camp in Toronto as a counsellor.

 
Jesse Helfand

Jesse was new to Camp Arowhon staff last summer, but did a great job as a counsellor and is a seasoned camper. He attended Camp Hurontario on Georgian Bay for six summers, and was on staff there for one year. He also has camp experience teaching swimming and lifeguarding at Bayview Glen day camp. In the city, Jesse plays on soccer, hockey and rugby teams. His favourite activities at camp are rock climbing and canoeing, his biggest canoe trip being a 21 day excursion on the Missinaibi River. He is friendly, charismatic, and excited to be back at camp.

 
Joey Haar

2010 will be Joey's tenth summer at camp, including participating in the LIT program. He's done volunteer work with the "Out of the Cold" organization helping the homeless and has also done fundraising to help make Northern's new turf field a reality. He's on Northern's ultimate frisbee team, and has played on Northern's football and rugby teams in past years.

 
Jonathan Newman

Jonathan plays the drums and participates in his school jazz band. He also plays in a jazz combo at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and has a few bands of his own. David enjoys sailing, basketball, all things musical, and camp.

 
Josh Spring

Before partaking in the LIT program the summer of 2008, Josh had been a camper at Arowhon for six years, making this Josh's ninth summer at camp. This will be Josh's second summer on staff and we are excited to see him put his incredibly strong leadership skills to use again.

 
Julia Greenwald

Julia Greenwald is from New York City. For eight summers Julia was a camper at Camp Arowhon. This summer she will be returning for her first year on staff after a two year hiatus filled with babysitting. Julia spent the last two summers away from Arowhon doing a variety of things. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she went on a month long hike through Alaska with the National Outdoor Leadership School in July, 2008. Afterwards, she worked as an assistant coach at a nearby soccer day camp run by the travel soccer club she plays for during the school year. At school, Julia is captain of the varsity soccer team, editor of the school literary magazine, and does volunteer tutoring at a nearby public middle school. Having studied both Spanish and Chinese since seventh grade, last summer Julia had the opportunity to go on a five-week school trip to China and was also selected as one of two students to go on an exchange program to Argentina. Julia has enjoyed her travels immensely but also sorely missed the shores of Lake Teepee. She looks forward to returning to the beauty of Algonquin Park and a wonderful summer at Camp Arowhon!

 
Kate Harris

Kate Harris is from Toronto, but has been living and studying in Montreal for the past three years. She goes to McGill University where she studies Cognitive Science and Anthropology. Kate is thrilled to be moving back home to Toronto for the first time in a long time, but even more excited to be heading back to Camp Arowhon after a five year break! Kate was a camper at Arowhon for eight years, spent one summer as an LIT, and one summer as a stellar junior counsellor. She then took a few years away from camp to travel and try her hand at being a waitress. The summer ahead is jam-packed for Kate with plans to volunteer at Toronto's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health before heading to Arowhon, plus finding the time to enjoy some of her favourite hobbies: swimming, sailing, watching tennis tournaments, gardening and exploring the city on foot. Hopefully she won't be too worn out after the summer, as she has been accepted to study on exchange at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands next winter. Kate thinks that there is no better way to remember Canada while she's away than with the sunny memories of a summer in Algonquin Park.

 
Kevin Houser

Kevin is from Toronto, and currently attends Lawrence Park High School. After high school Kevin hopes to go to Queen's or McGill to study engineering, business or economics. Last summer Kevin successfully completed our LIT program and this upcoming summer will be his tenth year at Arowhon. Outside of camp, Kevin has worked as a hockey referee, and is presently working at a co-op placement at Toronto General Hospital. He also tutors fellow students in math and science. Outside of school, he plays hockey, tennis, and the guitar. This summer Kevin is looking forward to being on staff at Arowhon for the first time and hopes to bring his positive nature and enthusiasm to every camper at Arowhon.

 
Laura Nowak

Laura currently attends OCAD University in downtown Toronto, where she is majoring in photography. This is her first year at Arowhon, but she was a lead counsellor at a day camp for the last six years. She has also worked at horse camps, worked as a nanny, and participated in her high school's grade nine mentoring program, where she took fellow students on overnight trips to build leadership and teamwork skills. She loves gymnastics, soccer, and skateboarding, and really enjoys riding her motorcycle. She was director of her high school's broadcasting and soundboard club, captain of the science olympics team, and president of the environmental club. She won an award for excellence in French Immersion, and was nominated to attend a Global Youth Leadership conference. Last year, Laura went backpacking for three months in Europe. She travelled to twenty three countries and hopes to visit many more.

 
Lucie Simco

Lucie is from Toronto and currently attends Queen's University in Kingston. Her hobbies include music, art and reading. She also has been involved in a work-co-op program in connection with a teen magazine. Lucie excelled as a counsellor in Junior Girls and as a high ropes specialist last summer. We are looking forward to having Lucie's smiling, fun-loving and caring personality on staff this summer.

 
Madeline Jacobson-Sohn

For summer 2009 Maddy was an LIT and she was previously a camper at Arowhon for five years. Before her LIT summer, she worked at a dance camp with children from the ages of 8-12. She is part of her school's varsity Tier 1a field hockey team, and this past season won OFSAA gold for the fourth consecutive time. She is also part of an out of season indoor field hockey team for Kitchener- Waterloo. In middle school she won the Queen Mary of Scots award which was given to the girl who showed the most improvement and determination throughout the school year. She plans on attending either McGill or Concordia University in Montreal. She is incredibly excited for her first summer on staff and can't wait to meet her campers!

 
Marlee Vinegar

This will be Marlee's tenth summer at Arowhon. Marlee regularly volunteers at Adath Israel Synagogue and with UJA. Over March break she volunteered in Ecuador through free the children and will be participating in the March of the Living in the spring. This fall, Marlee was a student leader for her school's trip to Camp Tamakwa. In her spare time Marlee plays soccer and enjoys windsurfing and snowboarding.

 
Max Gordon

Max is from Toronto; this will be his first year on staff and at Camp Arowhon. Max has been going to camp since he was nine years old, at Camp Kadimah in Nova Scotia. This past summer he was a CIT there. He really likes music and plays multiple instruments including the piano, drums, and guitar. His favourite sport is baseball but he also enjoys football, hockey, basketball and soccer. Max can't wait for this summer and we can't wait to welcome him on staff!

 
Michael Sniderman

Michael Sniderman is from Toronto and is studying international development at the University of Kings College in Halifax. At Camp Arowhon, he spent 8 years as a camper and a year in the LIT program; he is excited to be returning for his 4th year as a counsellor. While attending school, Michael plays a large role in the Halifax community as a captain and player-coach of his intramural basketball team, The Woolly Mammoths. His unique playing style (impeccable court-vision, etc.) on the court translates well into his counseling prowess during the summer. Michael was awarded the Senior Counsellor MVP award last summer and we know he will continue to be our of strongest staff members.

 
Miles Griffis

Miles is from Monument, Colorado. He attends Deerfield Academy, a prep school in Massachusetts. He recently served on the student council of Deerfield and has also been involved with peer counseling on campus. He enjoys tennis and plays on the school team, but his favorite Arowhon activity is kayaking. This summer will be his seventh year at Arowhon and his second year as a staff member. He came as a junior boy and stayed for four years. After spending two years away from Arowhon, Miles returned last summer as a wonderful caring counsellor in Senior and Junior Boys.

 
Nathaniel Yood

Nate is from Buffalo, New York and this is his tenth summer at Arowhon. Having successfully completed our LIT program last year we are excited to welcome Nate on staff this summer. Nate has volunteered for two months at the SPCA, is currently a member of the Jewish Culture Awareness Club, and plays football with his school.

 
Rachel Harris

Rachel was a camper at Arowhon for nine summers and this will be her second year on staff. Outside camp Rachel is a member of the DECA chapter at her school, which is a business marketing competition. Last summer Rachel excelled as a counsellor in our Inter Girls section and we are excited to welcome her back!

 
Rebecca Kessler

Rebecca is from Boca Raton, Florida and is currently attending the University of Florida in Gainesville where she is majoring in Art History and with a minor in theatre. Rebecca was a camper for seven years, and completed our L.I.T. program, and has been a counsellor in the Inter Girls section. This will be Rebecca's tenth year summer at Arowhon. During high school Rebecca traveled all over the world, from Israel to Australia and Italy to New Zealand and many other places. She hopes to study abroad in the future and is looking forward to returning to Arowhon this summer.

 
Rhys Campbell-Smith

Rhys is from Hampton Court, England and is currently in his third and final year at Southampton Solent University where he is in pursuit of his BaH in Sports Journalism. This will Rhys' first summer at Arowhon, but he has been working with children since he was thirteen. He has worked with children in a variety of different care programs in the UK, including children with a range of learning and physical disabilities. In the winter of 2009 he began volunteering at a local primary school in Southampton coaching Rugby. His two biggest passions are sports and traveling. He particularly enjoys rugby, cricket and football. In 2007 he went backpacking on his own round parts of Asia, India and Australia. Rhys is looking forward to being in Canada and experiencing all that camp has to offer!

 
Robert French

Robert French is originally from England and recently moved to Canada with his family. This will be Robert's ninth summer at camp and second year on staff. He currently attends the University of Toronto where he is in pursuit of a degree in social science studies. Robert excelled as a counsellor in Senior Boys last year and we are more than excited to see him back at camp this summer.

 
Ryan Holt

Ryan is from Caledon Village, Ontario and is currently attending the University of Toronto where he is pursuing a degree in psychology and political science. He works with a community youth group as a leader hosting charitable and fundraising events. Ryan enjoys playing tennis, golf, skiing, and has played hockey for numerous years. At U of T Ryan is a social representative, is part of the global issues commission and plays intramural sports. Ryan also loves music and was part of a travelling band playing the saxophone when he was fourteen. In the future, Ryan dreams of becoming a musician or working for the UN.

 
Sam Dekoven

This will be Sam's second summer on staff. In the past Sam completed our L.I.T. program and was a camper for four summers. Outside camp, Sam teaches swimming and volunteers for Baycrest. Some of his extracurricular activities include swimming, directing plays, playing the piano, and acting with the Tarragon theatre program. Sam is excited to be returning to his summer home!

 
Sam Houser

Sam Houser is from Toronto and currently attends Queen's University. This summer will be Sam's third year on staff as a wonderful counsellor. She was a camper for seven years and in 2007 completed the LIT program at Arowhon. Sam has volunteered as a student teacher for eight year olds at Temple Sinai and often babysits children of all ages. She volunteers for Na Me Res providing food to the homeless in Toronto. Sam has been on the soccer, field hockey and tennis teams at Lawrence Park C.I. We are looking forward to having Sam's caring, smiling, and enthusiastic personality back on staff this summer.

 
Sam Rosenbaum

Sam is from Toronto and goes to school in Kingston, at Queen's University. He spent six years at Arowhon as a camper, one as an LIT, and this will be his second year on staff. Outside of camp, Sam has worked as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and Bronze Cross instructor. At Queen's, he works for a student government service and also volunteers as an intern in their communications office. As well, he plays inner-tube water polo intramurals and belongs to the sailing club. Sam had an amazing experience counselling in Senior Boys last summer and can't wait to be back at Arowhon in summer 2010!

 
Sarah Hampton

Sarah is from Brechin, a small town in the northeast of Scotland. She studies at Glasgow University where she is pursuing a degree in math and psychology. She's very involved in music and drama and plays the violin, guitar and sings. She has also been involved in many orchestras and ensembles and formed a ceilidh band with friends a number of years ago. Having been involved in many local pantomimes and musical theatre productions she decided, as Deputy Head Girl, to run her own show in her final year of high school to raise money for a local charity. She also has a love for nature and the outdoors, having enjoyed many camping trips with friends, including her Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. This will be Sarah's first summer at Arowhon and we are excited to welcome her to our staff.

 
Sophie Mann

Sophie Mann is from Toronto. This year at school she was part of a grade seven and eleven mentoring program in which she was assigned a group of seven girls to mentor. Along with bonding and getting to know the girls, she was also their go-to person for any problems in or out of school and learned to guide them through their year. She was an LIT in 2009 and that year celebrated her 10th year at Arowhon. Sophie looks forward to joining the staff at Arowhon this year and is excited to get to know the campers and have an amazing time with them.

 
Stacey-Jo Rawlings

Stacey-Jo is from Lancashire, England and is studies psychology at Lancaster University, This will be Stacey-Jo's first year as a member of staff at Arowhon and is looking forward to joining everyone in Canada. She has participated in volunteer opportunities with a local Scout group throughout her time in education. She keeps herself busy by participating in sporting activities including, football, netball, running, swimming and also enjoys a good game of pool.

 
Sydney Torgov

Sydney Torgov is from Toronto but attends school at the University of Guelph where she is an art history major. This is Sydney's first year at Camp Arowhon and she couldn't be more thrilled to be part of the Camp Arowhon family. Although Sydney did not go to Arowhon as a camper, she did attend other overnight camps in Ontario and worked as a counsellor at a day camp in Toronto for two years. Sydney has also volunteered at various community centres in Toronto, including the JCC. Sydney has been a competitive dancer since she was ten years old. She hopes to bring her talent, love and joy for dance to camp this summer. Sydney cannot wait to FINALLY come to Camp Arowhon and have the best summer learning, laughing, and experiencing the one of a kind experience that camp provides.

 
Tess Bardikoff

Tess lives in Toronto, where she attends Northern Secondary School. Tess is involved in lots of school activities including the Rugby team, Peer Leaders and the Buddy Program. Outside of school she volunteers weekly at her local Out of the Cold program and takes classes at an art studio. Tess is celebrating her tenth summer at Arowhon. This year will be her first year on staff.
